The trees we use for Dixie® products are replenished.
We play an ongoing role in keeping our forests
sound and healthy — allowing them, in turn, to
continue providing a range of environmental
benefits we can all enjoy.
We use virtually every part of the trees we process for Dixie® products.
Whether it’s using wood chips left over from lumber
operations or using the residuals from pulping to
generate steam energy, we take great pride in
making the most of our resources.
We keep track of America’s endangered forests.
We won’t buy wood from these areas except when
active forest management is needed to improve
the habitats of rare, endangered or vulnerable
wildlife like the Louisiana black bear.
Sustainable Forestry Initiative® certified sourcing.
In plain English, this means that the wood we use is legally sourced and we use trained loggers who follow best practices for preserving biodiversity and water quality.
Made with 80% plant-based materials.
Dixie® cups and plates are made with at least 80%
renewable plant-based materials from trees where
forests are managed using responsible forestry
practices that help maintain forest area and
encourage timberland growth.
Contains NO polystyrene foam.
Rest assured, we’ll never use polystyrene foam to
make our Dixie® cups and plates.
Dixie® plates and bowls are compostable except in CA
With our plates and bowls you’re not just able to
reduce waste, but you can also generate valuable
fertilizer. So whether you choose to compost them in
your backyard compost pile or at a commercial
composting facility,* our products will break down
into nutrient-rich soil.

Backyard composting
Dixie Ultra® plates and bowls are OK compost HOME certified, which means they have been tested to verify they will break down in a safe and timely manner in a backyard compost pile
Commercial composting facility*
Don’t have a backyard compost pile? Dixie Ultra® plates and bowls are also BPI® certified for commercial composting. That means they have been tested to verify they will break down during the regular commercial composting process and will not negatively impact compost quality.
